StorySALOON: Short Stories Centre Stage

You know when you get an fabulous idea, and you just can’t let it go because it’s SUCH A GREAT IDEA? It’s so good that if you don’t make it happen you know for sure you’ll die with regrets.

That’s how I felt about my idea for StorySALOON. Had to do it. Couldn’t let it pass. Australian short stories on stage, read live by talented actors. Published works from our great lit journals, competitions, and independent publishers. Networking stories, writers, journals and actors to grow the audience for the short story. There’s so much good work out there, already published, waiting for more readers and a bigger audience.

That’s been the impetus for StorySALOON Live which we launch with our first show, on April 1. See the full line-up of authors, stories and actors at our website.

We also bring you StorySALOON Podcast: each show is released over three episodes, and includes a deep dive into one of the short stories, with an in-conversation hosted by me with the author and performer. The first episode drops on April 8. Via Spotify with other platforms soon to come.

It’s been great partnering with Diana Cordeiro, who has brought decades of marketing experience to our start-up.

I realise that it’s International Women’s Day today, March 8, 2025. There’s much anger and despair being shared in posts and conversations, protests and activisms about how women’s rights are being rolled back. The theme for this year is #AccelerateAction. So for me it’s an especially appropriate day to be sharing the news with you about our woman-led startup and the StorySALOON’s amazing selection of stories, with so many of them by women, and about the lives of girls and women.

BOOK Tickets via our website, The Vanguard or Moshtix.
