Bold Ink creative writing mentoring launches

Welcome to my The Bold Ink – Creative Mentoring and Author Services. After thirty years of mentoring writers through my teaching in universities — Johns Hopkins, UTS and Macquarie — I’m now freelancing. Thankyou to my first clients who’ve been a joy to work with these past two months: Jennifer, Ghina, Kylie, Jacqui and Christine. And a big thank you to the many hundreds of emerging student writers I’ve worked with over the years. I learned so much working with you, through our discussions about writing practice, craft, technique, and much more.

And to show my thanks, I’m offering graduates of the Master of Creative Writing and the Creative Writing Major at Macquarie University a 20% discount until Sept 1 on my 3 Hour Taster, Sustained Development and Manuscript Assessment packages. If you’re not quite ready to commence, contact me in any case and we can discuss.

This year I was selected by Australian writers’ peak national professional association, the Australian Society of Authors, for its mentor register for the coming two years 2021 – 2023. It’s an honour to join as a mentor, following the ASA’s rigorous selection process It’s great to be working with the ASA again: in the early 2000s I was a member of the Board of Directors working alongside writers including James Bradley and the late Georgia Blain. Before that in the mid 90s worked for the ASA as events and marketing officer, and organised Australia’s inaugural Young Writer’s festival, held at Writer’s in the Park, Glebe.

Of course, I’m writing, as always! My current work in progress is titled Raven Mother, a nonfiction work. A big thank you to the Australia Council for the Arts for funding me to continue with that book this year.
